Stay Healthy This Winter šŸ’™

Winter is coming and as always with the cold weather, things shift both physically and mentally. Below youā€™ll find some simple ways to take care of your energetic body, so your physical body can easily follow.

Throughout our body, energy flows through the different Chakras or EVERGY CENTERS. Each Chakra corresponds to a different set of our nerves, organs and different areas of energy in the body.

When our Chakras are out of balance so do we; letā€™s explore:

Your Root Chakra, with the color Red, represents connection, stability and grounding, physical identity and AWARENESS of your body in space. It is located at the base of the spine in the tailbone area.

Things to consume to keep your Root open and balanced are as simple as incorporating garlic, ginger and turmeric in your cooking. Theses are all spices with such strong roots in their nature and can aid in connecting you back to center which can later increase your positive physical vitality.

Your Sacral Chakra, located just below the bellybutton, with the color orange, keeps your sensuality vital and creativity fresh and renewed.

Easy ways to ā€œeatā€ for your sacral is to incorporate cinnamon (my favorite thing in the morning is hot water with a slice of lemon and a cinnamon stickā€¦..no no no, NOT INSTEAD OF COFEE … ever, just in addition! šŸ˜œ), paprika (in almost anything I cook ā€¦always) and caraway (great Moroccan tea cookies with caraway).

Solar Plexus is located in the upper abdomen, in the stomach area, with the color yellow. This chakra represents the concept of confidence and self esteem, or clear vision and plan.

To eat for your Plexus, consider cumin (try it on any chicken, steak and absolutely in soups), fennel (roasted or cut in salads with lemon, salt, pepper and olive oil) and coriander – in stews and any slow cooked meals.

Our HEART – canā€™t mess with this one, though the whole system is interconnected.

This Chakra is located at the center of your chest, with the color green and is in charge of your ability to give and receive love, and to find compassion. This chakra, keeps getting in trouble as many people are motivated, for better or worse, from that center. Everything we consume through food and information, affects this Chakra, so please be intentional.

To your heart rescue, consider Rosemary (roasted root veggies, chicken and trulyā€¦.anything!), basil, thyme and rose (try it in tea). This one is probably the easiest to incorporate but be more intentional about it!

Your Throat Chakra is located exactly there – in your throat, the color is blue and this one takes care of communication, expression of yourselves, truthfulness and outputting trauma in ways of telling your story so it is not stuck in your energetic body so you can eventually move on.

Consider Mint (hot water and mint, add it to ANY salad, healthy bowl of grains, etc), sage (pasta anyone?) and cloves (not my favorite but sometimes I put some in my tomato sauce (as well as a cinnamon and tamarind stick, to create a contrast between the sweet and the savory and that is yummy!).

Third Eye is located at the center of your forehead, between your two eyes (the one that just knows), has the color purple and is in charge of your intuited imagination/visualization.

Consider Star Anise (this one is used a lot more in the far east and the Middle East in baking), nutmeg (all pies are welcome) and bay leaves (slow roasted brisket).

Finally, the CROWN! Color is white, located at the top of your head, responsible for spiritual AWARENESS and your intelligence, keeps you in divine connection and in the trust you have in the story.

Consider eating more of saffron (chicken, rice, quinoa), lavender (use it in your bath, in your tea or on your body as an oil) and white pepper (my personal favorite out of all the pepper seasonings).

Read through these, shop for this amazing spices (my momā€™s pharmacy) and get through this winter healthier, from the inside out, with a little more INTENTION in your choices!

Revi-Lations was born out my studentsā€™ positive reactions to my weekly newsletter and different peeps along the way who kept urging me to think about a blog, a podcast or something in between.

Posting my newsletter on my website, is my natural ā€œIn Betweenā€œ. We had a few names as potentials (Reviā€™s corner, Reviā€™s Soapbox and few moreā€¦), but it landed on Revi-Lations, by my gorgeous, talented, writer Sis-in-law, Lisa Barr (who has an open book with all my mistakes in English, saved for a day she needs to use it against me šŸ˜±.Ā  Iā€™m sure soon enough, you would tooā€¦).Ā  I do hope you enjoy it and if it ever gets you through the day, drop a comment and let me know.

As always,
