Passover then and Now- part two💙

As some of us will be celebrating the first night of Passover this coming Monday night, I would like to talk about Miracles and the relationship with Gd.

Let’s Start from the beginning.

When Moses spends his time in Midyan, at the house of Jethro, very early on, he is drawn to Mount Sinai and the “pull” coming from there.

One morning, haunted by dreams and voices he believed coming from there, he decided to finally climb to the top ( something the Midyanaites never dared to do).

When he reaches the top of the mountain, he sees what many know from the movie The Ten Commandments, the “Burning Bush”, where Gd’s voice was coming from.

Much to learn from this amazing moment in history.

Gd reveals himself in the most direct way for the first time in 400 years!
Gd’s voice is coming from a bush that is burning in flames but isn’t consumed- is that a testament for the Jewish nation to undergo for generations to come? Burned, slaughtered, executed, exiled, BUT NEVER EVER CONSUMED???
Will Gd always and forever provide? Absolutely!!!!!

The relationship we should all aim in having with GD ( or at least mine and all who believes in the “Shpinozic” idea of GD) can be inferred by examining GD’s name itself.

When Moses asks who that voice is, GD answers “ I am GD. I am who I am and I am what I will become”.

Gd is an ongoing process, an action, an intention
.a VERB!!!

Spinoza believed that Gd is “ Everything there is”, with some objects having some attributes of Gd, and some less. Some Humans having many attributes ( those devoted and spiritual in their nature) and yet, some less; those who are not yet ready to be holding the belief in a higher power. But the sum of it all, is nonetheless, what makes Gd.

Gd’s name then, fits here- I am what I ( already) am- the world as it is, and I am what I will become – the world as WE, ALL will make it- an action, an intention, a VERB!!!

This moment teaches me of the relationship with Gd, and many more moments when Moses feels lost and hopeless in the quest of leading the Israelites into freedom, facing Pharaoh’s harsh heart. It teaches me, that I/ we, are in constant mode of growth and evolution. That our relationship with GD is No different : we can argue, scream , be disappointed, wonder where he is when things look so grim and yet, bring him back up from within – he is what he is and he is what we believe and make him and “everything there is” to be, if you may. Gd will provide. We need to seek!!!

Fast Forward, when Moses realized Pharaoh isn’t going to let the people go, the first plaque is BLOOD, hinting for all the loss the Egyptians will undergo and the bloodshed coming, giving pharaoh the chance to “let the people go”, but he doesn’t. And onward through nine more, the last one being the death of the first born; here too, much significance.

Remember that Moses was saved from the Pharaoh’s claim to kill every Jewish male born???? Well, GD spared the Egyptian and only inflicted the first born- Pharaoh’s son died but you know who else was a first born? Bithia, Pharaoh’s daughter and Moses Egyptian mother who raised him. During the last plaque, Bithia runs away from the palace, looking for refugee in Moses’s house in Goshen ( think of it as the Jewish Quarter in Egypt of the time) and with Lamb’s blood marked on the frame of the door, get “passed over” this plaque and this way saved.

Bithia saves Moses who saves and frees his people and who is then, saves his saviour, his Egyptian mom. If this cycle of life doesn’t teach of “Gd is and whatever he may become”, what will?????

We live in a very interesting cycle with much madness, loss of common sense and humanity, and people run on an ideology taught in what I feel is becoming a “Social Media University”.

The cycle of finding Gd will have to include our devotion to TRUTH, to FACTS to LOGIC, to uncomfortable arguments that are painful and difficult, like the relationship with GD, with a decision to come out of it stronger, more faithful, spiritually centred
..overcoming and becoming, never forgetting our roots and history.

So much more can be expanded on the events happening from the moment the Israelites were finally free, to when they accepted the Ten Commandments, becoming the Jewish Nation in Mount Sinai but
..that’s in part three!!!!

Happy and Meaningful Holiday of Freedom ( BRING THEM ALL HOME NOW!!!) everyone💙

Revi-Lations was born out my students’ positive reactions to my weekly newsletter and different peeps along the way who kept urging me to think about a blog, a podcast or something in between.

Posting my newsletter on my website, is my natural “In Between“. We had a few names as potentials (Revi’s corner, Revi’s Soapbox and few more
), but it landed on Revi-Lations, by my gorgeous, talented, writer Sis-in-law, Lisa Barr (who has an open book with all my mistakes in English, saved for a day she needs to use it against me đŸ˜±.  I’m sure soon enough, you would too
).  I do hope you enjoy it and if it ever gets you through the day, drop a comment and let me know.
