This week, with a heavy heart, we moved through together.
With such crimes against humanity taking place in my beloved motherland, Israel, I had to remind yourself, why do I teach Yoga and why do I own my sacred space, and why, did I name it Neshama?
Yoga is and always have been, a place of healing for me; a practice to settle, quiet and centre my mind. I came to it from a broken space of deep homesick, losing the voice inside – my compass, my inner leader, my personal force.
The Asana aspect of yoga, the physical practice moves our mind from constant fluctuation to stillness – WE MOVE SO WE CAN SIT!!!
However, when I opened up the studio, back in 2017, in no time I realized, this is my own little sacred space to create a movement, a social change to increase humanity towards SELF and then, others!
I don’t teach what I don’t practice!
I don’t share what I don’t work on and feel myself.
I come to learn from my students, always!
I move so I can sit.
I’m here to get you closer and closer to your soul … to your, NESHAMA.
In my space, you can cry, you can sit and pause while everyone around you move, you can emotionally and spiritually ascend, you can come AS YOU ARE, WHEREVER YOU ARE IN YOUR LIFE!!!
I have moved with so many of you while grieving for the passing of my mom, teaching with broken voice, seeing you moving and crying with me with such grace and HUMANITY.
I have moved with you when we lost some of our beloved community members.
I have moved with you through your own pain and I have moved with you this past week, supporting each other’s painful spirit, trying to put back HUMANITY into the madness unfolding in Israel.
We pray for the souls of the dead.
We pray for the healing of the injured.
We pray for the return of the hostages back in the arms of their loved ones.
We pray for the soldiers to come back home safe to their families.
We pray for humanity to prevail, now and forever!!!!
I have never intended to teach JUST your body! I am only exhausting your body so I can reach you mind and your soul.
Thank you to all who have joined us this week, PRAYING with us through the stages of Assiya (action, doing), Yetzira (visualizing), Beria (creation) and Atzilus (grace and unity) – the stagers of ANY prayer as the Baal Shem Tov, a Jewish mystic, sees it and I cannot agree more!
When we step onto our mats, our mind is still “doing”, fluctuating, moving nonstop. When we begin to surrender to the breath linked to the movement, we begin ascending to visualizing; seeing something better than what is. Later, deeper into the practice, when the mind gets clearer and clearer, we ascend even higher to creating the world we wish to live in and finally in Savasana, we all are United in GRACE … in UNIVERSAL ONENESS AND HUMANITY.
I’m beyond grateful to having my own space, leading a movement that is dedicated to LOVING KINDNESS!!!
Many of you asked what they can do and how they can help – thank you!!! Here are few things we can all do:
- Pray – keep those lost, injured, missing and fighting in your heart and in your daily prayer – however you pray!!!
- Text and check on those you know who may have family in Israel right now and who are terrified for their safety.
- Check with me on how we can be there for our very own Eliana who will send her husband Ari today to join his unit in protecting Israel and is Israelis – Thank You ARI!!!
- Tell me about you skill, ways for you to help as I will be partnering with Jewish/Israeli non-profit outreach groups in the coming days to assist in any way I can.
- Educate the world around you on the right terminology being used. That is, supporting the “resistance” at the moment in shapes of posting Palestinian flags on social media, isn’t only incorrect way of presenting the situation, but it is clear cut supporting violence, genocide, the killing of innocent men, women and children and hopeless elderly. Those peeeps are supporting the haters of the Jewish people and are on the side of terror organizations – no mistake there!!!
I don’t do politics and on any given day, support the peace process and the rights of the Palestinians. But this is not the situation here! It is at the least, not relevant, if not, offensive!!! If anyone is truly pro peace, they will fiercely condemn these horrible actions against humanity with every fibre in their body!!!
As we all know, those movements who created the strongest, long lasting lasting changes in the fight for freedom, were committed to NON Violence – Steven Biko, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, to name a few!
Join us this weekend (details will be shared once I have them) in a rally to support and create world wide pressure to return the innocent hostages kept in Gaza home, ASAP!!
Finally, below is a link to help the IDF fight with more things they need at the moment – thank you all!!!
